He Stumbled Into Our Home
By Nicholas Martin

He stumbled into our home
covered in blood, dirt, and dust
we all just stared
not knowing what to do
he sat down at our table
I ran into the kitchen
threw together a quick meal
I used the last of our rations
so that our freedom fighting soldier
could enjoy his last meal
he ate it all, not leaving a crumb
and went back into war
the same way he came in:
just a scared little boy
